NHS Flu Vaccinations

If you’re eligible for a free NHS flu jab, our pharmacists are here to help keep you protected this winter.

Who is eligible?

The NHS offers the flu vaccine free of charge to people at higher risk from flu, including:

  • Adults aged 65 and over
  • Pregnant women
  • People with certain health conditions (e.g. diabetes, asthma, heart or kidney disease, immunocompromised)
  • Carers and frontline health or social care workers

If you’re not sure whether you qualify, our team can advise.

Why have the flu jab every year?

Flu viruses change every year, and protection from previous vaccinations decreases over time. Having your annual jab gives you the best protection against the latest strains.

What to expect at your appointment

A member of our trained staff will give the vaccination as a quick injection in the upper arm. It usually takes just a few minutes.
Most side effects are mild and short-lived, such as:

  • Soreness, redness or bruising at the injection site
  • A mild temperature or feeling under the weather
  • Headaches, tiredness or muscle aches

These are much less severe than flu itself.
